Peter Adams, co-founder of Avantgarden in Wijnegem, Belgium, is a legendary landscape architect whose influence spans continents – from Europe to China and beyond. With over 2,000 completed projects since 01980, his work ranges from intimate residential gardens to monumental public spaces across Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, the UK, Cambodia, the USA, Brazil and Israel.
Peter doesn’t just design landscapes; he creates living, breathing experiences – like the indoor gardens at the Herman Teirlinck building in Brussels, where greenery and architecture merge to inspire Flemish government officials daily. His work is not just seen but felt.

When Véronique and Peter first met over 22 years ago, sparks flew – but not the good kind. Forced to collaborate on a project, they initially found each other arrogant. How wrong can a first impression be? Today, they’re inseparable – best friends who share both deep conversations and uncontrollable laughter until tears roll down their faces.
Together, they balance brilliance and humor, seriousness and playfulness – exactly the energy YUGENING stands for.

Architectuur is het design van een constructie die vele functies kan hebben.
Architectuur is geen kunst, maar kan soms als een kunstige constructie worden gezien door zijn unieke en esthetische uitstraling.
Niet te verwarren met wat men in de civiele bouw een ‘kunstwerk’ noemt. Dat kunnen allerlei ingewikkelde constructies zijn, zoals bruggen, sluisdeuren, tunnels enz.
Schone kunsten als schilderkunst en beeldhouwkunst kunnen uiteraard samengaan met ‘bouwkunst’. Verwarrende terminologie…
Veel woorden om architectuur te klasseren als bijzonder, baanbrekend, prachtig enz. Voor mij het volgende lijstje van geweldige architecten met grote naam en faam:
Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Le Corbusier, Eero Saarinen, Oscar Niemeyer … en even geweldig, maar dan misschien iets minder bekend: Pierre Koenig, Craig Ellwood, A. Quincy Jones … Case studies.
Architectuur, interieur en landschap moeten op één of andere manier een geheel vormen, harmonieus in stijl of, al dan niet, met de nodige spanningen.
Kunst, zie boven, ondersteunt het voornoemde geheel. Zelf zie ik het als een stilistisch geheel. De cirkel of de vijfhoek is rond 😉
In de periode van Art Nouveau en Art Deco werd alles doorontworpen: van deurklink over tapijt- en meubelontwerp tot de tuin met constructies en sculpturen. Geweldig.
Horta, Majorelle, Guimard enz. gebruikten vegetatieve elementen consequent in hun Art Nouveau-ontwerpen. Je houdt ervan of niet, maar het resultaat benaderde wel de perfectie.
De reactie van Art Deco was even consequent en detaillistisch, maar op grotere schaal.
