Ever since people started visiting Casa UMU, one question kept returning to Sven Bullaert:
“Can you create a place like this for us?”
The answer was always complicated.
Because designing atmospheres, sculpting emotion, creating soulful organic worlds… is one thing.
But translating that into fully realized architecture requires another layer of expertise, engineering, technical mastery, spatial orchestration and execution.
And then we met.
At YUGENING, we instantly recognized something rare in Sven’s work:
not just aesthetics, but frequency.
An understanding of how curves, textures, light, natural materials, acoustics and emotion shape the human nervous system and wellbeing.
Many people know Sven as the visionary designer behind several iconic Kipling bags and monkeys, others know him from his pioneering work on sustainable fashion with his brand I AM, and some from his artworks or inspiring talks on creativity.
But behind that playful mix lives a much deeper creative force: someone who has mastered the art of organic, sensory and emotionally intelligent environments.
After experiencing Casa UMU, it became clear to all of us:
this was not meant to stay a one-off creation.
So today, we are incredibly proud to announce the collaboration between YUGENING x UMU.
Together, we will explore and create a new type of architecture:
spaces that do not only function…
but breathe.
Spaces that reconnect people with softness, imagination, humanity and harmony.
Organic futurism.
Synesthetic design.
Biophilic frequency architecture.
Call it what you want. We simply believe the future needs environments that make people feel alive again.
